About Us

Our History

Butere Technical and Vocational College is situated in Kakamega County, Butere Sub-County.

The college was established in the year 2013 in line with the Government policy of increasing opportunities for technical training to impart skills to the youth of this country.  The first batch of 13 students was admitted to the college in January 2017. Since that time, the enrolment has increased and now it stands at 1213 students.

IMPACT OF THE COLLEGE ON THE COMMUNITY

The college has opened up opportunities for entrepreneurial activities for members of the neighboring communities such as selling of produce to students and employees of the College, leasing of premises to students and trainers who come from distant parts of the country for training opportunities offered at the college.

LINKAGES

The college intends to start very active collaboration with the County Government of Kakamega once the state of the art equipment that were provided under the auspices of the ADB and the GOK are commissioned.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The following achievements have been realized under the able leadership of Butere TVC.

  1. Strategies that were put in place to boost enrolment from an initial figure of 13 students to the current number of over 1,100 in a span of only one year.
  2. Development of the first strategic plan and subsequent revision of the same to incorporate the Government’s Big Four agenda.
  3. Establishment by the Board of public private partnership with local entrepreneurs to house students from distant parts of Kenya who are studying at the college.
  4. Construction and renovation of semi permanent dormitories to house students who cannot study at the college as day scholars.

Popular Courses

Butere TVC is poised to significantly contribute towards the Government’s efforts of realizing the Big four agenda and vision 2030.
